Biographical elements
Based in Paris, Raphaël Chêne is a photographer and visual artist working across music, culture, fashion and brand imagery.
Originally from an academic background, he studied philosophy, literature and political science before completing a Master’s degree at the École de hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris. His studies also took him abroad, notably to Scotland and Japan.
Photography initially began as a personal passion alongside his academic pursuits, gradually evolving into a full-time professional practice.
His work combines a documentary approach with a distinctive sensitivity to colour, light, movement and atmosphere. Working across digital and analogue formats, he creates vivid, immersive images that capture the energy of a moment while developing a strong visual identity.
Recently, he was selected by Citadium for its Youth Culture campaign, highlighting 50 emerging talents shaping the future of the creative industries.
His practice spans nightlife, festivals, live performances, fashion and commissioned projects for brands and cultural institutions. Based in Paris. he works throughout France and internationally.
